What is a man without memory? In  The  Book of Three  by Lloyd Alexander lack of memory makes a person a tool for evil.   To those that have not read this book, it is a quick read and I would highly recommend it. It is an attention-grabbing and fast-paced  book.  To give a quick summary, the story revolves around  Taran , a young man, growing up at  Caer   Dallben  where he has the humorous title of "Assistant Pig Keeper" to Hen Wen, a pig with the power to tell the future.   He does not know where he is from or what his lineage is, but he has a wise teacher, the enchanter  Dallben , who teaches him about the great stories of the land from the Book of Three. One day, trouble comes. The Crystal of Truth: An Archetypical Analysis of The Dark Crystal

Ever seen a little film by Jim Henson and Frank Oz called  The Dark Crystal ? It is a fantasy film, entirely done with puppets and practical effects. It is really a visual masterpiece and a huge triumph for puppetry and practical effects.    You really ought to go watch it before reading on. Trust me its good.
